Girls football team v Castleton

Result – 12 – 0

Super result by the girls football team tonight, winning their first ever match 12 – 0. The girls were fab and they all had a chance at playing in different positions. It was really good to see all the girls, wanting to run with the football forwards to beat their opponent and get involved. They worked extremely hard to win the ball back and were fantastic in front of goal. Well done to all the girls who took part in the game and fingers crossed there will be more games in the future! Keep up the good work in your dinner time club!! Fantastic start.

Year 4/5 A and B team v Broadfield

Tonight the year 4 and 5 children turned up to play Broadfield Primary School in a mini football tournament. Upon arrival, Lowerplace were told that Broadfield had brought Year 5 and 6 children instead. Lowerplace A started well drawing their first game and showing a real desire to win the ball back quickly to go forward. Haady made a couple of good saves and Alfie showed a real dseicre winning the ball back and getting a couple of shots away. In the second game the B team also came out with a draw, again showing a real desire to win the ball back. Stand out performance was Philip who showed the year 4 boys how to win the ball back quickly. The children then played against each other which ended up in a draw. In the second game for the A team they came up against a strengthened Broadfield team which were too strong this time beating them 1-0. In the final game Lowerplace B started well, having a couple of early shots before Broadfield scored. This knocked the confidence of the young Lowerplace team and they conceded another soon after. The children have a lot to learn in terms of tactics and formation, but their desire to win and want the ball was unbelieveable against a very tall, strong Broadfield team. Well done to all the children involved and this will only make us stronger and better in the future.

Lowerplace V Sandbrook

This evening the football team played against Sandbrook. The boys started very well having lots of chances early on but not making any of them count. The children became more confident at the first half went on. With Sahil and Kasim going close with a chance. Philip kept the ball moving and the two rocks (Kane and Diogo) kept them at bay. Late on in the second half Kasim went through on goal and finished low into the goal. In the second half Lowerplace started the stronger again winning the ball back quickly and attacking as a team this time. The children had chance after chance, with Sandbrook’s keeping pulling off some fantastic saves. Sahil went through 1 0n 1 with the goal keeper and secured Lowerplace’s second goal. Later on in the second half Sahil went through 1 on 1 with the keeper this time putting the ball over the second half. Sandbrook went for it in the last couple of minutes, but Lowerplace were strong enough to keep them at bay. Fantastic performance from all the boys tonight! @LPS_PE

Football V Castleton 22.1.2016

Fantastic result beating local rivals 4-1!

The boys started very slowly in the game creating chances but not taking them. As they got more and more confident they started to apply pressure every time they went forward with Phillip pulling the strings. Castleton hit first scoring within the first 5 minutes making Lowerplace very nervous. The first half was tough and one in which Castleton held out for the majority of the 15 minutes before Sahil, finished off a neatly worked routine! In the second half it was the same again with Castleton’s goalkeeper on fine form stopping Lowerplace from making it 2-0. Lowerplace kept going at Castleton until they finally got their 2nd goal. This eased the pressure and the boys relaxed from then on. Taking it to Castleton every time they went forward. It was pleasing to see some of the build up play throughout the game. Both Kane and Diogo were playing some very clever passes to get Lowerplace on the attack. Phillip had an amazing game with many chances, but struggled to hit the target as often as he would want to. It was good to see Roger back on form and confident again wanting to go forward every time he got the ball. Sahil was unstoppable scoring 3 of the 4 goals. Callum was very strong when he came on and relaxed the rest of the boys with fantastic composure on the ball. Kasim worked hard on and off the ball trying to share it every time he got on the ball. Haady had a poor start trying to kick Castleton’s first shot, but then became confident catching and stopping the next first with his hands. Overall a super game, giving Lowerplace the confidence for the competition on Thursday!
